The Oculus Rift is a new piece of technology that is attempting to revolutionize the video game industry and bring forward a new age of virtual reality. It is a relatively small device that looks similar to ski goggles with an iPad attached to the front.
The device works by placing two lenses, one if front of each eye, in front of a single screen. This creates two separate images that shift horizontally making your brain see things in 3D. This is supplemented by a gyroscope, accelerator, and a magnetometer that tracks your head’s movements and adjusts the screen accordingly.
This technology may lead to a new way that people play video games and it is something that I will be watching as it develops.
